ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
In order to succeed as a creative in this capitalist world, you must become financially literate and learn how to effectively pitch your ideas to sponsors and funders. This workshop is for anyone seeking to gain their footing with writing grants. The class covers the steps and resources I've discovered when writing and successfully obtaining grants for myself and others over the past few years, including where to seek them, how to write them, and how to create a budget.
☆ REQUIREMENTS: none! ☆
ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:
Moréna Espiritual is an afro indigenous musician, performance artist, and director based on the island of Borikén ☆⋆₊°༺❦︎༻°₊⋆ He trained at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and is well-known throughout the world, having worked throughout Europe, North America, South America, and the Caribbean. He is a laureate of the 2022 NALAC Artist Grant Award and has received recognition from platforms like The Atlantic, Harvard Radio, The British Institute of Film, IMER Mexico, and NYU amongst many others. The Caribbean's physical nature, political climates, and spiritual contexts are major pillars in his work, and he uses elements like surrealism and time travel to challenge colonial ways of understanding identity, visuals, and sound.
